The weather was beautiful! The sun was out and the air was crisp, so Mommy took us to the Elk and Bison Prairie! It was amazing! The Elk and Bison Prairie is part of the Land Between the Lakes’ 170,000-acre preserve. The Elk and Bison are in a 700-acre enclosed area where they can roam wild and free. There is a 3.5-mile paved loop that you can drive through to see the animals.

Here we are! On the lookout for wild animals.

We drove through the gates and the adventure began! Mommy rolled down the windows and right away sissy and I could smell the animals! We drove past a couple of really big poopy piles. Mommy told me that I could not pull a “Miss Patty” today. One time! One time when I was a young whippersnapper, I rolled in a hot stinky pile of cow poo. One little moment of fun and you get the nickname “Miss Patty.” Sheesh, Mom!

Mommy! Stop embarrassing me! I will NOT pull a "Miss Patty."

Mommy drove through the loop very slowly. We looked and we sniffed. For a long time, we didn’t see anything, but we didn’t give up because we could smell those animals! Sissy’s ears were perked up and my nose was in the air just a sniffing. We turned the corner and there they were! Huge Elk were standing right in front of us grazing away! Sissy and I did not know what to do! Mommy pulled over so we could get a closer look. Sissy and I got really quiet and very still. We didn’t want to disturb the big Elk. We perked our ears to listen to them eat. Our noses twitched when the wind carried their scent over to us! They were big, beautiful animals!

Soon it was time to go. I put my head outside the window and Mommy continued to drive slowly towards the exit. Then, it happened. Sissy started crying. She not only wanted Mommy to stop the car, but she wanted to get out of the car! Mommy told her to calm down, but she just kept crying and throwing a tantrum. She didn’t understand why she couldn’t go play with the Elk. Mommy explained that they were way too big and one misstep and she would be a smooshed Yorkie. Poor sissy. Sigh...She just doesn’t understand that she is little. Finally, she calmed down and we enjoyed our scenic drive home.

Stay tuned for more of my adventures!
