Let the Preparations Begin!

I am getting ready to go to England for a couple of months with Mommy while she collects data for her dissertation! I figured I should work on my dogertation while I'm there. I'm researching sleep, so I thought I might as well do a comparative analysis of sleep in Florida to sleep in England!
A dog traveling to another country is usually no big deal, but the UK is super persnickety about it. Something about not having rabies there and wanting to make sure others don't bring it to their country... Do they know who I am? I bet if they would just let me have a chat with the queen, she'd understand that I am a perfectly healthy, rabies free, Doxie Diva! According to Mommy, the queen has not responded to my requests for a phone interview. Sometimes, I think Mommy just isn't advocating on my behalf. If only I had opposable thumbs...

Anyways, Mommy said since the queen hasn't answered her and we're leaving in a few weeks, I really needed to start the preparations. Here are the steps we have to follow:
First, you have to have a 15 digit microchip. This is not like our 9 digit one. It is special and is called and ISO microchip. This has to be done BEFORE anything else. Well, I already had one of these put in years ago, so we were good to go on that one.
Next, I had to have my rabies vaccine updated. I just had that done last week. You can see in the picture above that I am NOT happy. Mommy didn't tell me needles would be involved. When we checked out of the vet's office, I wouldn't even look at her!
Mommy set my next two appointments. My next appointment is to get my certificate filled out. Once we do that, Mommy has to overnight it to Gainesville, Florida to get the final "OK." Then Gainesville will overnight it back. This has to be done within 10 days of my departure!
The final appointment will be to get wormed. Worms?! I am offended at the suggestion that I have worms!!! That has to be done 1-5 days before I arrive in England. Then, I'm ready to go!
So far, we have completed steps 1 and 2. While we wait for my next two appointments, Mommy is busy making lists of things she needs to pack for me. I'll share that once she is finished! Traveling overseas sure takes a lot of work! I'm glad Mommy is making all of the arrangements because I have naps to take!
Luvs and Lix,
Sophia
