Many people wonder how my journey as a PhDog began. Well, as always, I blame Mommy. It was the 2014 – 2015 school year and she got a new job at the University of South Florida. While working at her new job, she learned that USF would pay for her college courses if she decided she wanted to go back to school. Mommy already had her B.S. and M.S. and always thought about getting her PhD, but it was pretty expensive. Now that she had help paying for it, there was nothing stopping her! So that spring, Mommy started taking classes. Mommy and I have been through a lot together. We support each other through thick and thin, so I couldn’t really let her go on this journey alone! That’s when I decided to get my PhDog.

I thought it would be hard to decide what my area of study would be, but as soon as we got on the computer, I found my calling. Sleep studies! I would research where the best places to sleep were, when the best time to sleep was, what kind of bed to sleep in, and what kind of blankey to use. Anything regarding sleep was my focus!

I got started right away. Grammy even helped me look at different ideas for doggy bedrooms for sleep studies. I did a LOT of reading. When Mommy read, I read. Well, sometimes I did fall asleep while she read...There was an enormous amount of homework and papers to write. Sometimes, I looked at Mommy and begged for a break, but we just kept plowing through. Before we knew it, our first semester was done!

Looking at possible ideas for my sleep studies.

There's a lot of reading to do!!!

Mommy, is it break time?

Sleep studies are underway!

Luvs and Lix,

Sophi
