Now we’re in the home stretch! It’s the 2018 – 2019 school year and Mommy and I are going to finish this sucker up! Over the summer Mommy successfully defended her dissertation proposal. That means her committee has approved her research for her dissertation! It has taken her forever to get here! I’ve been collecting data on my sleep studies for years now! But, I couldn’t leave Mommy behind, so I waited for her to catch up with me. I mean, being a diva and a genius is a lot for anybody to live up to.
I don’t have a “committee” per se, but my doggy friends all liked my topic. They appreciate the importance of sleep. Where to sleep, when to sleep, how often to sleep...Should you sleep with a toy, a blankey, a human? What kind of bed is best? Dog or human? If you drink water before bed, will you wet yourself? Will you wake up your human to take you out? Do you wear a diaper or use a wee wee pad? These are all critical discussions. My dogertation topic was set!
It turns out Mommy has to go all the way to England for a couple of months to collect her data. I was really scared at first. I do ok without Mommy for a week, but a couple of months?! This would not be acceptable! Anyways, Mommy is the one that really doesn’t do well without ME. She gets really depressed if she is by herself too long, so of course she would need me there! Before I knew it, preparations were underway for me to accompany Mommy to Europe and even though I had all the data I needed for my dogertation, my genius-self decided I would add to my research. I tweaked my research to be a comparison study! I will compare sleep in the US to sleep in the UK.
When we come back home from England, Mommy and I will write up our research. Then we have to present it. Mommy’s committee will have to tell her if she passes. My friends will let me know if I did a good job. If Mommy and I can pass that hurdle, we will become Dogtors!!!!! We will not be medical dogtors, we will be the other kind. The kind that means we are super smart!
I’ll keep you updated on our journey through this final year of school so stay tuned! In the meantime, if you didn't catch my blog about trip preparations, you can see it here: https://cristakaye.wixsite.com/sophia/blog-1/let-the-preparations-begin
