Well, we’ve been here for two weeks and they have been jam packed with work for Mommy! But let me rewind a little. After Mommy accepted the job offer for Murray State University, as an Assistant Professor, things kicked into super high gear! Mommy had to go see her doctor for a check-up and get her Rx refilled, get her haircut from her favorite hair stylist one more time, get sissy's haircut at the groomer, fill out job paperwork, resign from her current job, try to go to lunch with all her friends one last time, and prepare her dissertation defense! She was still working with her editor, getting her presentation together, and getting paperwork for her committee prepared and then she had to arrange the move! It was just too much! Grammy and Grampy helped A LOT! Grampy rented a moving truck and hired helpers for loading and unloading, he booked a hotel so we could stop overnight on our journey to Kentucky. An 11-hour drive would be a little too much for us pups, so we stopped in Atlanta on our way. Most of our stuff was already in storage, but over the last 6 years, we accumulated some MORE stuff. Grammy got us all packed up. If it weren’t for Grammy and Grampy, there is NO WAY we could’ve moved! It just wouldn’t have happened in the short time frame we had. Mommy and Grammy even made a two-day trip to Kentucky to find a place for us to live!

Poor Percy. He thought he was going to get to come with us!

Moving truck packed and ready to go!

The car is loaded and ready to go! Kentucky, here we come!

At the hotel in Atlanta. I'm tired and pouty!

Greta is always ready for an adventure!

First meal in our new place!

So, we’ve been here for about 2 ½ weeks now. The first week Mommy was VERY overwhelmed. Living out of boxes and trying to learn a new job and worrying about me and sissy. I feel bad about that, but this was a big change! We have our big bed back and my stairs aren’t quite tall enough. I pulled my bad shoulder trying to go down the stairs. I cried and limped and refused to eat. Mommy was super worried. She doesn’t even have a dogtor for me here yet! Grammy packed my pain medicine left over from the first time I hurt my shoulder, so Mommy was able to give me that, but since I wasn’t eating, the medicine upset my tummy and I had what Mommy calls “jelly-bloody-poo.” This REALLY worried Mommy. Well, after a few days of rest, pain meds, and daily massages from Mommy, I started to feel better. Mommy took me off my medicine and I started eating again. After all that drama, Mommy got through her first week of work, barely.

That weekend Auntie Shannon came and brought Maddie! We had a good time barking and supervising. Auntie Shannon got us unpacked to the point that Mommy could get to things and start settling in a little. They left us home while they went on a boutique tour! That next week Mommy did much better at work. She even took us to our favorite spot, the Arboretum.

Unpacking is hard work!

The beautiful MSU Arboretum!

Our favorite place so far!

This weekend Mommy did some more unpacking and took us for a drive on some of the back roads so we could check things out. I loved the wind blowing my ears! We’re getting settled and getting the hang of our new life in Kentucky! Hopefully, we can find some doggy friends soon!

Stay tuned for more of our Kentucky adventures!

Luvs and Lix,

Sophia
